Our Dogs

OUM Babka of WMF

(Once Upon a Moose Babka of Waterloo Mountain Farm)

Intelligent, perceptive, and highly biddable. She is our ‘stickiest’ and most affectionate dog, and will be the first to alert when something is ‘off’, whether that’s escaped stock, injured animals, or even an open gate.

A G2 from Rusty Horse Ranch (OUM) with fully outcrossed genetics (i.e. completely unrelated to Caspian, the founding stud), she is 27 inches at the shoulder and clean legged.

Fun Fact: Wiggles and dances for her dinner. Payment for services rendered?

What do the letters before and after their names mean?

In the Colorado Mountain Dog Registry (CMDR), each breeder is assigned a unique set of farm letters. These letters identify the farm where a dog was bred and are included as part of the dog’s official registered name.

The original farm letters remain with the dog for life. If the dog is later transferred to another breeder or farm, the name may be updated to include “of [new owner’s farm letters]” to reflect current ownership, while still preserving the dog’s origin.

Our farm letters are WMF (Waterloo Mountain Farm). All puppies we produce will have names that begin with WMF, indicating they were bred here. If a dog lives with us but was bred elsewhere, its name may include “of WMF” to reflect current ownership.

A full list of registered farm letters and their corresponding farms can be found on the CMDR website under the breeders page.

IJR Crockett of WMF

(Iron Jay Ranch Crockett of Waterloo Mountain Farm)

Our stalwart and fearless guardian. Cool as a cucumber, completely devoted to his work, and very handler sensitive. Does not test fences and will not let even an open gate tempt him away from his guardianship.

A G2 from Iron Jay Ranch (IJR) with classic Caspian genetics. 29.5 inches at the shoulder with double dewclaws on one leg.

Fun Fact: Coyotes? No problem. A spray bottle of water? Death incarnate.
